Why now

Energy and Production costs under lasting control

Volatile procurement prices, rising grid fees and swinging spot markets make the energy bill the biggest variable in costing. Active energy management turns exactly this volatility into an advantage: a battery decouples consumption from the moment of supply – you buy and store energy while it is cheap and use it when production needs it. This turns storage from a nice-to-have into a must figures.

This turns storage from a nice-to-have into a must for commercial and industrial operations: it stabilizes energy costs, lowers the specific production cost per unit and creates planning certainty across the entire depreciation period. The decisive question is no longer whether, but how large, how controlled and for which use cases.

The economic core in three sentences
01
Peak shaving

caps expensive load peaks and thus reduces demand-based grid fees.

02
Self-consumption

noticeably raises the share used directly from PV or low-cost grid supply.

03
Cost stability

makes procurement predictable and protects against price peaks on the spot and balancing markets.

The platform
The enerzn EOP does more than store

A storage system alone saves money. The enerzn Energy Operating Platform turns it into an operating system for all your energy – across individual machines, entire halls and multiple sites.

Multiple sites in one view

Whether one plant or a distributed portfolio: the EOP brings all sites together in a single dashboard. You see consumption, generation, storage levels and costs per site in real time – and can tell at a glance where optimization potential lies and how each site contributes to the overall balance.

Measure down to the single machine

The platform measures not only at the grid connection point but granularly down to machine and line level. This reveals which asset draws how much energy, when base load runs unnecessarily and where efficiency measures really pay off. Diffuse total costs become attributable, reliable figures.

Data for energy audits – at the push of a button

Energy audits per DIN EN 16247 or energy management per ISO 50001 rely on clean, gap-free measurement data. The EOP logs continuously and provides the required time series, load profiles and analyses ready for export. What used to mean laborious data gathering before every audit, the platform delivers automatically and traceably.

Monitor and optimize machine runtimes

Even without a storage system, the EOP creates value: it monitors runtimes, downtimes and load profiles of individual machines and uncovers expensive patterns – such as loads starting up in parallel that create avoidable peaks, or equipment idling continuously. On this basis, processes can be staggered in time and runtimes optimized in a targeted way.

PLANNING & SIZING
From Load Profile to the right sizing

A storage system is exactly as good as its sizing. enerzn sizes precisely on the basis of your real load profile – and calculates the savings potential before you invest.

The starting point of every plan is your load profile at 15-minute resolution over a full reference year. We analyze this profile, identify the relevant load peaks and consumption patterns and derive a concrete sizing proposal from it: storage capacity (kWh) and power (kW), tailored to your processes, your tariff situation and your goals.

01
Peak shaving: cap load peaks precisely

With pronounced load peaks, a single quarter-hour value often determines the level of demand-based grid fees for an entire year. The EOP detects these peaks and covers them from the storage before they reach the grid connection. We quantify in advance how far your peak load can be reduced and what grid-fee savings follow.

02
Atypical grid usage: unlock the German savings potential

Under Section 19 (2) StromNEV, operations that demonstrably reduce their demand during the grid operator’s high-load time windows can obtain an individually reduced grid fee. The EOP knows the high-load time windows (HLZF) of your grid area, automatically shifts demand out of these windows and documents the atypical grid usage in an audit-proof way. This turns a regulatory option into a plannable, annually recurring cost advantage.

Peak shaving and atypical grid usage work hand in hand – the enerzn EOP optimizes both use cases together in a single pass, extracting maximum value from one storage system. The identified savings potential feeds directly into the individual configuration and provisioning of the EOP for your system.

03
Best considered from the very start

The greatest leverage arises when enerzn is on board as early as the system’s conception. If the EOP is planned in from the outset, measurement points, interfaces and control logic can be laid out to fit right away – later integration is then significantly easier and faster than retrofitting an already existing system. Of course, enerzn also connects existing installations after the fact; early involvement merely saves additional effort and creates a clean data basis from the very first kilowatt-hour.

PROVISIONING

Individually Provisioned – Tailored to your System

The results of the load-profile and potential analysis are the blueprint for your system. enerzn configures the EOP on the basis of your real values: your high-load time windows, your tariffs and grid fees, your machines and processes, your goals. You receive an operating control tailored to your site that runs, from day one, exactly the use cases that pay off for you – individual instead of off-the-shelf.

You can source the battery hardware wherever suits you best – from your existing partner or as part of a new project. enerzn stays hardware-agnostic and contributes the decisive part: the system that turns the storage into a profitable investment. This keeps you free in your choice of storage and still secures the full economic benefit.

Technology & security
Data Security, Server Location and Integration

Energy data is operational data. The enerzn EOP is designed to fit securely and without friction into existing IT and automation landscapes.

Data security and server location

All data is transmitted encrypted (TLS) and stored encrypted. Operation takes place in data centers located in Germany, GDPR-compliant and following recognized security standards (aligned with ISO/IEC 27001). Access is role-based, logged and limited to what is necessary. Your load profiles, machine data and analyses remain your data – with no disclosure to third parties.

Integration into the company network via SCADA

Where an automation and control-technology layer already exists, the EOP integrates directly into it. Via established industrial protocols – Modbus TCP, OPC UA, IEC 61850 – the system connects to your existing SCADA and control systems. Storage, measurement points and control commands thus appear in your familiar control room, and the EOP incorporates signals from the process control system into its optimization.

For operations with elevated security requirements, running within a segregated company network is possible: communication stays within your network segments, and outbound data exchange happens exclusively via defined, minimal and controlled interfaces. This combines the economic advantages of EOP optimization with the security and availability requirements of an industrial OT environment.

enerzn deliberately builds on broad interoperability – the EOP is designed as an open system that works with the technology you already run. That is precisely why it pays to involve enerzn as early as the planning phase: interfaces, data points and communication protocols are defined and agreed up front, so that storage, metering, PV, control technology and the EOP mesh cleanly from the very first day.
